Longcanes are mainly grown in tunnels and greenhouses. The longcane is grown in a substrate in order to optimally control the plant. With an even bud break after planting, laterals and flowers appear and will become fruit after pollination. In this way, the grower can accurately plan his harvest moment and yield. The use of longcane ensures that the labour performance per man-hour increases, which benefits the profitability of the crop. Van den Elzen only uses high quality minitray plants for the cultivation of longcanes. The plants are packed in different periods, depending on the purpose.
