Van den Elzen Plants produces frigo plants in grades A+ extra, A+ and A, with grade A often being graded into two different categories. The use of frigo plants depends on their grades; heavy plants (A+ extra) contain more flower trusses and thereby a higher production potential in the planting year. A+ plants already have a couple of flower trusses in the first year and frigo A plants yield sufficient production in the year after the year of planting.

Only BM2 or BM5 propagating material is used for our frigo plants. Frigo plants are lifted and packaged in November/December. The plants are then put in refrigerated storage and are delivered between March and June, depending on what our customers prefer.
